Yet many women in our community leave everything behind and choose safety. For our women, leaving isn’t the end of their story… it’s the beginning of the hardest part.
They walk away from their homes, routines, and familiar surroundings, often without a clear sense of what comes next. What follows isn’t only relief at being free—it’s uncertainty, fatigue, loneliness, isolation, and a deep, ongoing sense of fear.
It’s trying to rebuild a life while carrying everything they’ve been through. It’s learning how to move forward while still feeling the pull of the past, as the person they left may continue trying to re-enter their life in different ways.
And too often they’re expected to do it alone.
JDVS+ITAV exists because that shouldn’t be the reality.
We’re building a community around these women—one that shows up in real, practical ways. Not just with words, but with action.
A ride when there isn’t one. Help with childcare when it’s needed most. Fixing what’s broken. Stepping in where the gaps feel overwhelming.
In partnership with ITAV, we’re bringing together people who are willing to say:
Because community is about being supported while you find your footing again.
It’s about having someone to rely on for the in-between moments.
To help with the small things that often feel the most overwhelming.
This is about easing the weight, even just a little.
We can’t change what these women have been through.
But together, we can change what happens next.
