JDVS has partnered with ITAV to bring a new kind of community support to Toronto.
JDVS + ITAV is for divorced and single parents in our community, both mothers and fathers.
While JDVS continues its important work supporting Jewish survivors of DV, JDVS + ITAV is not limited to survivors of DV.
We’ve created a community of volunteers who are willing to help with simple, everyday tasks. Divorce and single parenting can leave anyone trying to manage without the support that two-parent households rely on.
We are trying to fill in the gaps.
No one volunteer has to do everything.
It’s many people doing something small — and together, making a big difference.
ITAV began in New York, founded by Shavy Simcha, with a simple but powerful idea: when a single parent needs help with the small things that make everyday life difficult, the community can step in.
JDVS is bringing that model of practical, neighbor-to-neighbor support to our community in Toronto.
One service at a time.
You don’t need to change someone’s whole life to make their life a little easier.
Sometimes it’s one ride.
One meal.
One repaired shelf.
One errand.
One hour of your time.
One small act from you can be one less thing a single parent has to carry alone.
Together, we can build the village.
