Shelter & Safe Housing Support

Shelter & Safe Housing Support

Everyone deserves a place where they feel safe, supported, and free from fear.

Leaving an abusive or unsafe relationship can be overwhelming, especially when housing, finances, children, pets, immigration concerns, or safety planning are involved. You do not have to navigate these challenges alone.

JDVS can help connect individuals with appropriate shelter and safe-housing resources while providing compassionate, confidential support throughout the process.

How We Can Help

We understand that leaving is not always simple or immediately possible. You do not have to be ready to leave a relationship in order to reach out for information or support. Whether you are considering your options, preparing to leave, have recently left, or are looking for support after abuse, we are here to listen without judgment.

We may be able to support you by:

● Helping you explore emergency shelter and safe-housing options

● Connecting you with resources that understand domestic and intimate partner violence

● Providing information about shelters and services that may meet your individual needs

● Assisting with safety planning

● Connecting you with financial, legal, counselling, and community supports

● Helping you consider next steps at your own pace

Your Safety Matters

If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or go to a safe location if you are able to do so.

If you are concerned that someone may be monitoring your phone or internet activity, consider using a safer device or clearing your browsing history. Please remember that deleting browsing history may not remove all traces of online activity.

You Are Not Alone

Reaching out for support does not mean you are making a commitment or that you have to take any particular step. It simply means you are gathering information and exploring what may be available to you.

Our goal is to help you feel informed, supported, and connected to resources that respect your needs, choices, culture, and circumstances.
